table saw fence

i have a "clarke woodworker 10"" table saw.
it came without a fence (or splitter, for that matter!)

i bodged a fence when I first got it:





but it's rubbish.

so...


removed the fence rail from the front, and the left "wing"

and i have this 75x50x6mm angle




mark mounting holes and miter slots:



drilling fluid and applicator:


drilled, countersunk and bolted onto table



40x40x5mm square hollow section:

with extra! ferrous oxide. for flavour.

drilled right through@ 6.5mm, then top holes opened up to 10mm, and m6 cap head screws to fasten to the angle.


next job is the fence itself.

in case anyones wondering, the plan is to get some 150mm ish plastic drainpipe and a couple of endcaps then fill with citric acid solution to de-rust since its too long to fit in my usual tank.

I made a more substantial fence for my table saw . cant post a piccie as its up on the shelf covered with duck oil and wrapped in some bin bags while not in use. it don't get used to often

ive not really been bothered about a fence up to now, as ive been using a sled to cut plywood panels and halving joints in cls.
since i got the track saw, I'll be using this mainly for ripping planks down.
the next tool to sort out will be the RAS to do grooving/halving joints.

Have a couple of these to make for my bandsaw and tablesaw.

Debating using round bar mounted to the table on bolts with a cammed qr to lock it in. Need to do some drawings first but will document the make.

yeah. i'm really impressed with my tracksaw.
not much good for ripping scaff boards down though - or cutting box joints

Nope. Even mine dislike that. It's why I keep a Tracksaw and big skill saw in the van. Tablesaw sees little use at work. Too cumbersome to carry regularly. Can't even get it out of the lockup ATM. Too much junk in the way.
Have a little one same as yours I take when I need it. Surprisingly good little saws.

I have been using mine to make drawers, cutting plywood down to size, then cutting a groove to fit the bottom in, then screw together using pocket hole screws, would have probably been easier to use the table saw for the grooves, but that would have meant re arranging the garage.

Can do an awful lot with a Tracksaw with a bit of thought.

I used to fit bedrooms for Hammonds and they were a godsend. (I got all the tricky fits as a lot of the fitters were not carpenters) can follow a scribe line reasonably well by manipulating the track mid cut too.

the fence...
another piece of 75x50x6mm angle, and a short piece of 40x40x5(?) angle.

bolt them together at right angles.
i used m6 csk machine screws in 8mm holes to allow some adjustment.



clamp crosspiece to rail, then align fence with the miter slot.
and tighten down. (split lock washers on back)



bolt a piece of 9mm buffalo board to the metal fence:



i'm using a small g-cramp to clamp at the moment. i'll weld up a proper camlock when the weathers a bit nicer.

first test cuts:
some french cleats for today's other project.

I have the same saw. It’s currently sat under the chopsaw, neither of which are being used at the moment as there’s too much junk, err projects, in the way.

I like the rip fence, and shall be copying it

I also need to make a “sled”
