Taking sprayed panels in the house?

Just staying on the safe side so I better ask.

Is it safe to take a sprayed panel in the house and put in a spare bedroom. As in safe for other people in the house.

Talking Celly paint here, my thought is the temp in the house is more regulated than out in the workshed, give me more room to work/spray etc other panels as I am doing them one at a time.

I will post up later tonight in a new thread with some photos of my project, plastic repair and first panel sprayed.

Well personally I wouldn't, mainly because it will stink to high heaven and probably linger for quite a while!!

You mean a sprayed panel that has dried off being stored in the bedroom?...apart from a bit of a whiff I can't see any problems.

I used to spray my motorbike bits and transfer them to the dining room once they were touch dry, let them sit there for a couple of days in the warmth before flattening and polishing.

The biggest risk I faced was the constant complaining from er indoors, used to annoy me..I never complained about her cooking smells

yeah im with cumbriasteve nothing wrong taking indoors it will give off some smell but just shut the spare room door even leave a window slightly open

Got a couple of hours yet, putting a few more coats on and later tonight I may put them upstairs. I will put a blanket around the door aswell. Was more concerned about the health risks as I cannot take chances.

Need the room aswell because all the panels are every where, need more space ( and I thought I had alot before )

Will put up a little blog later so you can all tell me NOT to give up my day job

Open the window a little and close the spare room door and it will be fine!

by the time cellulose paint is dry enough to handle, it is safe to bring in the house, it will still smell a little for a while but if you can handle the panel without marking the paint surface then the vast majority of the solvent has evaporated and the panel will be relatively safe- in a spare room with the window open. Just to be safe don't sleep in the same room as hardening celly panels!

I just want to make sure we don't advise wrong here, normally it would be no problem at all but if you have a child, or infact anyone in the family with any breathing related problems than don't do it.

Panels in the room, door closed, window on a jar etc, other windows open. Its in there now so cannot do to much about it. Me or the wife cannot smell the paint but I do have a daughter, that was the reason for the safety bit, I know with 2K I would not attempt it.

So taken all the precautions I can and in the house they should harden better with no blooming.

Sorry to hijack here gents, I hope you dont mind but I am thinking of using heater in garage before and during celly spraying in about 2-4 wks. Would this be ok?

Do bear in mind that Celly when atomised burns well

Avoid using a heater during and immediately after until the fumes clear.

Don't get it to hot to soon you could if the coat is really heavy end up with solvent entrapment which can blister the paint so heat the room gently not the panel

not that im suggesting you take a panel sprayed with 2k in the house BUT
its the air borne particles from the actual spraying that are the problem
with a booth health and safety exec say you should have the clearance time on the door ie the time it takes the booth to remove any air borne particles

One thing I was afraid of was using a heater and having a fire. I bought a Plaster twin bar heater but only used it to warm up first.

My Workshed is around 30' long, painting down one end but after I went to the house other end of the shed I could see mist of fumes coming out, quite alot to be hounest so I am glad I never had it on while spraying. One of the reasons I wanted to take it in the house with the weather we have had lately.

If garage was warmed up to say 20 degreesC, and heater then turned off before spraying- would that be fine?

Busastars: you must not be married or have one of those elusive understanding wives - I thought they were just mythical creatures of ancient folhlore.
My wife would kill me.....

The wife used to be my second pair of hand until her hands are tied with the baby, ask Wyn he will say what I am like and can get away with

She does bring me out coffee every few hours, bikes have been my life since I was a boy ( not to long ago, lol..) She knows we cannot aford much and I will do what ever I can to save cash so she is great like that.

She is not all that good mind, she will give the minimum efffot to do any given job in life, got to keep her on her toes you see......
