Tap wrench for an M2 tap?

Im modifying some brass adapters and they need M2 grub screws, I have the drills and taps but every small tap wrench/handle I can find only closes to about 3mm and the tap is only 2mm

Any ideas on where to source a cheap one? It won't be getting any hammer so doesn't need to be made of granite and unobtainium

I might get shot down in flames here, but if you're tapping by hand (not on a lathe say) I might have a go at wrapping the tap shaft with a bit of insulating tape, or similar, and trying it in the 3mm tap wrench.

I use this for small taps

If no one comes up with a better solution, you can borrow it if you like.

What about a cordless drill?

I often stick small ones in a cordless drill. Does slip a bit but at least that happens before it snaps

I will try the tape, I suppose the worst that could happen is it will just slip?

I did consider the cordless, but the adapters are £10 a time so don't want to risk damaging them

If the tape doesn't work out I may take you up on that @Maker

I have got one here though I have never tried a m2 tap in it. Does 2-8mm mean it will hold a m2 tap not sure on that.

Adapters? Just chuck it on the parallel bit, this thing has a three jaw but it's more controlled than a drill.

Is that home-made? If so, good job......

Not home made, dad acquired it from work, surgeons use it for drilling bones or something like that, it's all stainless. I might have a go at making a new handle for it, just for fun.

Oh right, oops, I thought you meant adaptors to fit taps to a drill.

Have a look up the end of your tap wrench with it wound open, on my Eclipse wrenches there is a smaller square further up inside the shaft you can use for smaller taps.

I have ones like the top 2, they seem to have the 3mm hole when closed as well, the bottom one looks like it will work tho

Wasn't sure on a pin chuck, thought it might be a pain without the bar?

use a peice of small square bar (6mm square or 8mm square), drill a hole though it the size of the shank of the tap, then cross that hole to take a screw or grub screw to hold the tap in the bar.

We just went out for a meal so I had to go over them with a wire cup brush.
