Tapping arm

Been making parts for a tapping arm and got it all together tonight.
Everything is engineering on the fly and all fabricated parts of material from the " good to have" box.
I made it so I can use special MT2 tap holders as well as a regular ER chuck.
Using a MT4-3 reducer for drawbar then reduce it further to MT2. A little bulky but the MT3-2 reducer for drawbar was out of stock. I'll order one later.
For now I can mount it to the weld table but I'll also make a separate mounting plate.
Need a little twisting to get fully perpendicular to the table but close enough already.

I know and I'm loosing sleep over that

Didn't want to loose threads, it is short as it is already with only 4-5 full M12 turns

why not just weld ???the rest is

As Hood said low heat input.
Welding a 10mm thick flange to an exhaust pipe can make it pull quite a lot and I don't have a large to true it up in.
The other parts are easier to weld since they are done individual then put together with the shafts in for the final welding.

I like the idea but wont the turning handles hit the main column when tapping close to it?

As of now they will. I'll try some M16 tapping to see how much I can shorten them.

The nut on top is there so I can use a ratchet or power tools.

Shortened the handles so now it can be used almost as much as it folds. Still easy to tap an M16 on steel.
Looks to sit completely flat too.

Power tapped some M6 in steel, quick and easy.

trefolex cutting compund simlar to rocol good stuff . i use it on drilling tapping and also smear it on hacksaw blades the cut faster last longer and less friction when cutting
