Hi all.
New tele (Hisense}. If it's left on standby over night it has to be switched of and on at the wall to get the picture back on, the sound is OK and a coloured back ground is there but no picture though, other wise it's spot on. Has swimbo missed something tuning it in ?(I got out of that one).

its an overheat problem on the power board as theres still power even on standby

I do that, but just because my parents used to bang on about not leaving stuff on when there's no need. They'd watch the lunchtime news and then turn it off at the socket, even though it was coming back on around 4.30. It's just habit for me now. That said, I got one of those little devices that you plug in line to show power consumption, and this PC is using 12w when it's switched off, so it all adds up. And yes, I mean "off", not stand-by, I've checked the BIOS for wake-on-LAN and that sort of stuff, nothing is enabled. The only trouble with examining usage to that degree is that there's no more savings to be made.

If the TV is new, and it's faulty when left on, what does the supplier say about it?

I expect the computer is fully closed down (will need re-booting for a restart) but the power supply, for the computer, is still being fed by the mains.

Tele OK now easily sorted (swmbo sorted it) She got on to Tech Assist, very helpful. It was something to do with systems and they sorted it between them. I probably would have hung up. I understand Klingon better.

I regularly look up into the vastness of space and say "Maltz, jol ylchu!"

The fact that I'm still on earth would indicate that there are no cloaked Klingon "Birds of Prey" orbiting in our atmosphere. Either that or they don't understand Klingon in a Yorkshire accent
