Any suggestions on how to check fittings on regulators, hose connectors are all airtight?
I don't want to use the washing up liquid, soapy water, bubbling up method, corrode the fittings.
depends on the size of the leak, my car wheels were leaking air so I need to pump my car tyres up each week and I couldn't hear the air escaping. the regulator on my compressor leaks air and you can hear that at 20psi.
I have a hand spray bottle full of soapy water on the shelf, labelled up 'leak detector' and very handy it is. My compressed air is piped between five buildings so is pretty extensive, and the compressor (Hydrovane ) is on 24/7 so leaks are best avoided. I put a running hours meter on the Hydrovane so I could check for excessive running
OK cheers, as you know more about airline fittings than me. Could you have a look at my other post I put up this evening and tell me if they are right couplers for the Draper airline?
Thanks.
Soapy water, leak detection fluid will be ok for very small leaks , anything more than that will blow the fluid everywhere and most likely be heard, pressurise the line and watch the gauge ,if you have any significant leaks it will fall quite quickly, if you are worried about soap corroding the fittings use ammonia free detergent or just wash the fitting off with fresh water, with hosing and couplers there will always be losses, no system is perfect, wait till you work on ammonia systems, you know about leaks on that!,,,!

Its well worth chasing leaks, I have one on a pcl socket somewhere I need to find, if I forget to turn the compressor off I end up getting a 3am alarm call when the noisy thing fires up.
