anyone else have this problem.
i have a cheap auto dimming mask, not adjustable, i think its either shade 10 or 11 when its dimmed and 4 when its 'off'. solar powered so no batteries.
when stick welding it is great, its like im not using a mask at all i can see everything clearly and the arc is a nice gentle green colour.
when mig welding with my father in laws 150amp mig, it is a little harder to see what i am doing, but i put that down to the fact its a different type of weldig and im still getting used to it. still able to see enough to do the job though.
when i use gasless though, as soon as i get an arc, it is like someone has put their hand over my eyes. i can see the arc, and that's it. cant see a puddle, cant see the material i am welding, cant see the edges of the joint or anything else at all, just the arc.
i have been looking at the adjustable masks, can get one for around 28 quid on the bay, but am wondering if i should go back to a solid lens, shade 10 probably, as that is what i used when i did my welding course and had no problems with that at all, regardless of ambient lighting i could use stick mig or tig on various amp settings and still see everything clearly
