I have a fairly modern dehumidifier that has the facility for a connected in auto drain facility . I want to set it up safely for use in a wet room
It appears to be a long internally threaded tube to which to other end allows the connection of a pushed in clear plastic pipe .

This internal threaded tube has to need to have around 50 mm of 14 mm internal clearance in the tube after the initial screw on thread of 25 mm so it will not press down on an automatic sealing plug and send the unfrozen condensate to the internal removable water holding tank .
I'm having difficulties trying to identify the thread form , all I can give is it the spigot it will be fitted on the spigot thread down a 22 wide hole & is 14.51 mm at the root dimeter ( .580 of an inch ) Not sure if it is a metric . or bsp type plumbing parallel or a slightly tapered thread as I cannot measure down the hole that far.

Unfortunately no , it's down a 22 mm dia hole at least 20 mm deep before the thread starts . At the end of the day if no members can assist me I'll likely end up going to the local plumbers merchants such as PlumbSure once they reopen to see if they can help identify it .
Once I have the thread size I ought to be able design & 3 D print an adaptor up .

make a Plasticine bar , slightly larger than the thread , rub some butter on the thread , screw Plasticine into thread , then unscrew it , measure the result , jobs a good un , print a test thread and adjust as needed ,,,
print a thread gauge if it helps . just an idea of course.

Is it perhaps intended for one of those nylon reinforced ridged hoses to screw directly into ?

It looks like the cap of our Blyss dehumidifier from Screwfix. If it’s the same you’re over thinking it. Just warm up the end of a standard hose pipe and it fits nice and snug, just make sure the hose runs downhill to where ever you’re draining it.

It also looks very much like the drain on a commercial ice maker.
They come with a length of corrugated drain hose that you just push in.
A dishwasher drain hose might well be the same size? Couple of quid in screwfix?

I had a dream last night, a wet one ..... All about water in the dehumidifier .

I just could not dream my way to solving it ( unusual ) .

So this afternoon I carefully took the back panel off ..
To do this :-
I unscrewed the sealing plug, two screws hidden under the back of the carrying handle that you need to take out when the dehumidifier is almost leaning back an inch or so towards you so the small screws don't fall down inside the machine ( Guess how I found out ? ).

Took out two screws on the middle at the back and two more screws hidden away at the bottom of the side seams .

I did this on th work top by the stainless 1 & 1/2 bowl sinks .... put the plug in the big bowl . moistened two sheets of kitchen roll and plugged the half bowl with it. to prevent loss of any small bits down the pug holes .

Laid out the screws on the draining board in the pattern they came out just incase any were differing sizes as it's not an unusual event to discover such screws are slightly different lengths that puncture vital components if they are put in in the wrong place .
Found the set up quite different to what I'd expected .

Under where the white cap screws on I found only a couple of threads . The plug was not as I thought .....a valve , but simply a soft rubber plug . I noted with my camera the diameter of the body the plug was inserted into just incase I had some tube to fit it ( NO Chance ! ) .t

So I carefully drilled the cap through starting at 5.5 mm and taking out 1 mm at a time till I got the to 10 mm size ..the drain tube is 10.1mm dia . It was a case of cut a long angled slice through the tube to get a longish narrow bit to start feeding the tube into the cap's new hole , pulled it though with long nosed pliers then cut it off at prefect right angles , then pulled it back into the cap so it would have 1.5 protruding to compress when the cap was refitted. It worked a treat .

During reassembly Alison came along to make me a cuppa ..grabbed the wet kitchen roll plugger out of the half sink put it in the waste bin and promptly knocked a couple of screws on the floor & one down the now free plug hole .. I hadn't got my hearing aids in at the time but I'm sure she said " Oaf Hook " as she blushed and gave me coy girlish Bamby eyes .


Being as smart as she is she said , "" Not to worry , you'll have a spare one in your bits & bobs drawers " . 15 min later I found one and cussed when I found that the screwhead was 1 mm too big to go inside the guide tube to make the fixing.. Another 3/4 hr. later after sorting through loads more of small bit drawers I found one that looked like it might fit . Test fitted it head first Yeah ! jobs a good 'un .
Once it was all back together I let it stand for 2 hrs. before doing a run test just incase I'd got gas inside the wrong place .
Switched it on, put the drain tube on a breakfast dish and an hour later I have it 3/4 full of condensate.

Oh while I'm typing ,
The top of the fan cowl by the handle area , is only screw fixed at the lowest edge . As a result......... a long time ago it's tended to vibrate when the machine was warms up. So I gently lifted the top of the cowl and ran a thin line of superglue for plastics along the joining edges... it's cured the vibrations a treat . Doubt I'll ever be needing to take the fan cowl off as the machine is seven or so years old but I've always got my trusty Dremel if I do . .

My last resort before I got it sorted it was to print up a 16 mm metric or as an NC and see if it fitted as the machine is Chinese made but likely designed & made for the USA markets by the millions .
