This lamp is on fire?

Finally got round to doing something with one of the redundant stainless fire extinguishers that I was given, Stem is made from a curtain pole, Made this for the guy that gave me the extinguishers to have in his office, Pic's are crappy but the lamp actually looks pretty good, Any further suggestions gratefully received. ( I have another five )
The only welding involved was to attach the stem to the cylinder,

If you can, use the head of the can to fix to it.
They are Brass, so fixing is easier, as the lining can give of some nice nasty, send you to a funny place fumes when welding.
Add dry sand to the can to give some dead weight, stops it falling over.

I have made lamps, speakers a form of a safe from them in the past.

The red painted ones, storm kettles, wood burners, coal racks.

The list is endless.

Water contents down the drain.

As well as dead weight with sand as suggested I would be tempted to put a 1 foot diam base plate on the bottom to stop the topple effect. excellent style really like that.Arther

I had already thought of the ballast idea, but will leave that to the recipient, Lampholder is fitted into a wooden stopper in the top end of the tube so will just pull out to add sand etc. Tube to can has three good tacks, so no appreciable heat involved, And headgear nut only used to cover the welds, Only one of the remaining extinguishers still contains water, so will probably hang on to it for a while to use if i happen to have any non electrical fires. I found a date stamped on the bodies circa 1987,

It is way way out of date.

I advise to look inside the next can and see if there is a lining.
If there is, do not apply heat.

Before any one says it not all fire extinguishers like that are stainless, some were only a coat. So that's why it may have a lining.

a small rocket burner i have built one of them like this but the stainless steel is much better with them
