I may have collected the odd one or two vices over time, hence tend to be termed a bit of a vice geek.

Whilst ever a vice is unused, it's unabused.

I merely like unusual or uncommon vices.

Going back to topic, how do you hold the pieces in position for welding? With those bends and tees, I bet it must be a fair job getting alignment spot on too? Do you start off on a table and then move over to that setup for finishing?

I use a couple of stands/trestles. I made that piece in 2 pieces, then did the final butt in the vice. Alignment can sometimes be tricky, I use my pipe clamps and always seem to get there in the end.

Just stick on these spool pieces.

I do a bit myself anything up to 6" , always PN 16 flanges ! nice work when I can get it ! do you do any positional stuff or do you rotate ?

Ill roll everything if I can, but as u can tell with the piece in the photo I'll always get positional welds to do.

I like to do a positional weld just to keep me hand in , not been asked for tig root yet on black iron , do you weld any stainless pipework ?
