Tidy storage for woodburner

Have seen a few photos of nice storage shelves at either side of the woodburner in a living room but can't remember where!Usually they look like square boxes where the logs are kept nice and tidy and handy. Has anybody got any ideas or projects that can spur me on to keep the wife's new carpet clean and me out of the doghouse!

I just carry the wood through the house and one or the other of us Hoovers up eventually. We don't have his and hers carpets as we are an equal opportunity household.

Nice project, Hitch. Have something similar which I could adapt. Was thinking of something which would also do as a surround and look more built-in. Cheers!

One thing I have seen was a 3 foot by 2 foot wide cupboard set in an old 3 foot thick Colly Westen Stone wall by side of the fire chimney breast .. outside was a sealed steel door lockable with an air vent in it .. it came throught the wall and was filled with cut wood logs , on the inside was a wooden door ..open it , take the logs out and put them on the fire . Easy to fill from the adjacent logstore outside and little or no mess inside .

I could see a small fire surround built out of round bar, couple of nice oak shelves and mantle. Getting the design right could be the challenge. Perhaps a few added bits and bobs from DC Iron or similar....sepends on your tastes and decor really.

Hello I have some good pix for you on the subject, I'll post them to you when i get on shore in some t weeks time. The boxes are approx 50 x 60x 50 cm and has a drawer under it to store news papers for starters.
