As pretty as they might be this is where in many cases form becomes a priority over function.
In some cases form has to be the priority particularly when selling to dateless folk who buy fabricated items based on pretty, shiny, colourful welds often put in with no consideration for heat input or fusion.
Non critical stuff that’s fine and I’ve done it myself in the past with silly little things where a tack would be good enough but I’ve flooded a full weld with gas and put it in colder than it should just to bring out the shine and colour to “wow” the clueless customer buying with their eyes.
the problem becomes when form takes priority on critical work. I’m not saying critical welds can’t look great but fusion and heat input should always be top priority in this case and if you lay down a stunner in the process then bonus. .
