Just been having a go at a welding cart and decided to tig it as it would be good practice, which it was, few out of position welds, few fillets, few but welds, standing and sitting etc
Problem i have is, welding 30mm 2.5 wall box section, when at 100 amps on but welds it felt cold, so bumped it to 110, seemed too hot. Could see the weld sinking in just fine but no matter what I try every weld came out looking like a stick weld.
For the inside fillets I had to bump into 130, but again, welds look like stick welds.
Am I too hot for the material? Or travelling too slow for the heat?
Strength wise they are solid, I'm not worried at all about anything coming apart...just want to learn from it really to know what to work on as don't want to move to stainless until I've got the basics figured out.
This was the 110 amp but weld, clearly cooked it but 100 amps gave me a small humped up bead
