TIG welding turbo manifold

hey lads, iv just had one of the members on here put an idea into my head on what to do building my turbo manifold.

The plan WAS to mig the manifold and aluminium intercooler piping BUT i only have a hobby welder and won't be up to the job of welding the flange. I am willing to buy a Tig welder to do all the work but i didn't won't to spend a large amount of money for such a small amount of work.

Im looking to find if anyone on here would be willing to weld up my manifold once iv tacked up.

if someone is willing to welding it up for me at a good price what grade piping would i need?? the flange is
made from A572 steel will this be ok to TIG of should i buy another??

Have you decided on what material you are going to use for the tubing? I would go for stainless as it has a lower conductive heat transfer coefficient than mild steel which means the heat is kept in the pipes and goes to the turbo. Remember that the turbo needs high gas velocity and heat energy. A downside of stainless is that it has a higher thermal expansion coefficient than mild steel which means its more likely to expand when it gets hot - but bracing can solve this.

Mild steel would be ideal for the flanges because as said above it will warp less than stainless.

I would recommend looking at butt-weld pipe fittings if on a budget, they come in mild, 304ss and 316ss. Otherwise go for 321ss from a supplier such as primary designs as the material is stablised with titanium which means less intergranular corrosion at high temperatures.
