Below is a crossmember I have made up for my car. the angles are cut at 60 degrees. The rhs is 65x35x3mm. I assume you would still 'V' the two joining surfaces to help the weld penetrate. What about on the bottom edge as pointed to in this photo, do I prepare this the same?
Are you using car for road track forest?
I would v the same, but would also look at gussets if doing hard work.
Took me a long time to go from forest to track cars, always built to strong\heavy for track, had to have it beaten out of me.
I would vee that external corner similar to the flat faces otherwise you'll probably end up with a wormlike round weld as you're adding mig filler wire to a joint that already sits proud.
