Too much Orange County Choppers

Hi,

Thought I would join up and get some actual advice before taking the plunge and purchasing a rig. I've been lurking on this website for sometime now and have a budget and more importantly the man cave to play in. My primary interests are motorcycles and bicycles, though I'm not fool enough to convince myself I'll be knocking up bike frames anytime soon.

I'm a Design Engineer by profession, currently in the oil industry but with a background in most sectors, so have a reasonable grasp of the science behind the weld techniques and material technologies having studied it and told other people what I want/need.

An ability to weld has always been a skill I've wanted to develop, though I've not had the space. A recent house move complete with detached double garage and strict instructions to Mrs Sponge that its not to be filled up with fridge freezers, shoes and/or various other flotsam!

Theres some excellent advice on the website and some seriously skilled people, I hope I can tap into that knowledge without asking too many dumb questions along the way.

Welcome Bob,...........yep too right......too much OCC!!!............Hope your not going to start having fake tantrums and family feuds when you spill your 2 gallon coffee cup over your snapon tool chest and miller welder !!!! What and punch a dent in the highly polished control panel of my 5 axis cnc machine that prevents me from admiring my perfectly clipped facial hair whilst another front wheel with lightning bolts for spokes is being milled out of a solid block of aircraft grade aluminium? No doesn't sound like me at all...

i got bored with OCC after the first few episodes...all the bikes are pretty much the same shape with the same type of fender and the same sort of engine...the only real difference is the small details and the paint, and they spend far too long pretending to argue over pathetic crap that doesnt even matter to the job in hand...much prefer scrapheap challenge

Hello and welcome Bob. No i used to watch OCC when i had the channel, waste of time tbh. Good old youtube has some great builds of choppers, bobbers and cafe racers, without all the fake drama, by people who have skills and are genuine enthusiasts.

Then be disowned by your family and go live in the shed.

one chain wheel does under chunko end then over on front end
another bike here that chunko should make for a night out on the town
