Having just bought my first ever roll cabinet and spent out on quite a decent one I want to make it last a few years, so with that in mind, does anyone have any recommendations for liner material for the bottom of the drawers? I've bookmarked a few sales on Ebay of anti-slip matting but didn't know if anyone had any personal experience of a particular product they'd recommend?

I've got carpet tiles stuck in mine. Only 6mm ish thick so don't take up much space; stick them in with double-sided tape.

If you've got a snap on dealer then its available cheaply from them,its been given to me free by mine before.Or keep an eye out at lidl for their yoga mats.

Just remembered about closed cell foam matting, cheap as chips and you can cut it out around tools.
I also have seen where you invert desired layout of tools cover with cling film and then cover that with expanding foam.
I have also thought about making a vacuum table placing the tools again inverted upon it, then a sheet of thin plastic: heat with hot air gun, the vacuum will pull the sheet down following the contours of the tools

Hunt around for the anti-slip matting draw matting as the price varies, dammed I can remember where mine came from but it was cheap 5/6 years ago. Avoid Halfords as you will get 3 or 4 times more for the same money by hunting around, I might have seen some recently in one of the £1 shops or Tesco but not in the tool isles.

The local haberdashery will have the mesh anti slip in 500mm wide rolls, if not wider

The closed cell foam can be bought cheaply as yoga mats in tesco or pound stretcher.

You will probably spend the next month cutting your tools out again.
In order that the sheet does not pull into every nook and cranny, and then every undercut it would need to be relatively thick, and the heating would have to be carefully controlled.
You could of course avoid the embarrassment and create tools of all your tools, a little larger and with a draught angle..........Maybe not then. Stich with the foam.

Yeh makes me laugh I go to garages and lads have MASSIVE snap on cabs, one mate has one about 10ft long and is 7ft high another in there has next one down the place is full of cabs. when they open the draws there is two or three tools in there.
if I did that with the tools I have I would have to have a snap on truck as a tool box.
but it makes me laugh because only yesterday one guy wanted adeep 35mm he had been to 2other garages no luck I had called to look at a job there, he says why have you got one?, so I go to the back of my disco and say do you want 1/2 " or 3/4 " drive ?and he has a cab as big as my disco!!.
My tool box is an knackard old snap on box I bought as scrap from the dealer and fixed the draws, but is FULL of USEFULL toolsl, but literally must weigh about 500 Kg
BTW I use yoga mats as drawer liner aswell but only the thin stuff about 5mm works very well, for mobile tool box.
I have tried every thing as a spanner rack and nothing worked well but I had a crate from the local main dealers that had a windscreen in it and on the bottom it had two rubber 'tracks' in it for the edge of the screens to drop into and not move I was going to burn the crate then thought they look usefull I dropped them into the bottom of the draw and bingo a perfect spanner rack that stands being thrown round the lanes day after day,
also I am not bothered about throwing a cyl head or an A bar on the top of my box! first photo is my small rally box. second is spanner rack
