I've been after a wp9 torch and lead set for sometime. Just waiting for cheap on to appear on fleabay. Well I got one better and managed to bag a Brand New Starparts wp20 for 16quid.
Sooooooo, I now have to build a cooler, as I'm not paying the stupid prices they want for these things, lets face it, all that's in side is a pump, coil, and tank, oh and maybe a fan.
So the hunt began, I picked up a 600ltr/p/hr fish pump (£16) and a Heater Matrix out of a Rover for 99p. I already had a 4" induction fan and enough fittings. Time to start building.
I work for a Ventilation Co so the sheet work is .9mm Brushed Stainless Steel. The Heater matrix is copper so I heated up the pipes to the desired angles and fitted it to the back of the tray I'd folded up. A bit of foam to seal it to the back. Next I welded up a tank out of 3mm Aluminium and fitted 16mm tube for the inlet/outlets. And used an old steer tube from a pair of MTB forks for the filler. I machined a plug with a grove for an O-ring.
And that's about it really. I'll fold up a lid for it tomorrow, and cut a hole for the fan outlet (it's sucks air throught the coil) and post up the finished product. I wanted a uint that would sit in between my MIG and TIG. It's 500(L)x250(W)x170(H). Quiet happy with the outcome
