Trailer lash down points.

Every trailer under 3.5 tons I have ever used seems to have broken or bent lashing eyes. They never seem to be strong enough.
So I decided to go a bit heftier

Threaded the main chassis of the trailer M20 - so these can pivot if they need to or be removed easily.

Ideal for holding down lathes and milling machines. 6 in total.

I personally don't like those as lashing points. They allow a leaver force to be applied if anchoring at an angle
Whereas proper lashing points should only allow shear force through the fastenings. Or tension through the fastenings.
They are also to small to put a proper ratchet strap though without a shackle.

They are far stronger and can be unscrewed in seconds. Will be kept well greased of course.

Seem alright with my 4 ton straps. Remember it's a 3.5 ton trailer. I won't be carrying a big Komatsu

And being a short M20 thread they won't bend easy either. They will be fitted loose so they will turn as the straps are tightend.

It may not be carrying plant but remember a load moving can generate 4x it's weight in force.
And it won't be the fasteners that fail the lever force is liable to damage the box section Underneath.

Stronger than what ? I only mentioned the space they take up

It isn't box it is a thick I girder.
14mm top and bottom. It was a strange size I bought used for mine supports apparently. Much heftier than the usual stuff.

They should by design be tight. And a further 90 degrees round to get a straight pull. I once saw an “incident“ where one pulled out the top of a motor when it was been cross hauled. Fortunately didnt hit anything important but a trolly itwas going on anyway.

Of course it will. But they are still far stronger than the feeble things you get on normal trailers or Sprinter vans.
Remember the things I will be lashing down are quite tall so the angle will be pretty steep anyway. Not exactly a horizontal load.

Those eye bolts look like (dynamo eye bolts) lighter section and only intended for a straight lift of a motor

They are M20 load rated for lifting to 1.25 tons. Proper rated equipment for load lifting have to have a big safety margin.
Do you really think these will be stronger?

There was a serious (or may have been fatal) accident where I used to work due to lifting eyes been used incorrectly at an angle

I have no doubt.
But would you say these are stronger? Honestly?
Sprinter SWB payload 1500kg.
Transported my CVA lathe and this is all you get to secure the load
