Well I have been lurking this site for awhile and practicing some of the techniques I see on here. I have a baby welder, the Lincoln Handy Mig.
It is 35-88 amps.
Has a wire speed setting knob that is infinite 1-10
It has two toggles side by side, the first one is low/high and the second one is 1 and 2
It is capable of gs use but I am using it gas-less for all my Jeep projects, plus the fact my money tree is deciduous and since its winter it has no greens on it. Still haven't figured out why it doesn't during the summer months either.
Any how I can run the beads on flat plate fairly well after following all you guys advice and pictures in all the post I have searched. But when I try to weld tube laying flat it does not look nothing like the beads on a plate. I spot weld the tube at 4 equal points then run to the first one and then back up a 1/8 before releasing the trigger. Then start from that spot and drop back an 1/8th quickly then go forward to the next spot weld and repeat all. Hope that is proper? i am running .035 flux core wire on a setting of HIGH/1 and wire speed just under 3. I tried HIGH/2 and wire speed of just over 4 and it sunk the puddle on practice beads on plate. Anyhow need you guys opinion on this tube weld on a set of tube fenders for an ole Jeep to beat up off road but I still want to learn the right way. I think I need faster travel speed?? Also its 1 5/8s DOM .120 wall tubing.
