TWIN ARC SPRAYING WIRES

Im new to welding, i happened to inherit a sulzer Metco valuArc machine. got a few questions as have no idea. I would like to test the machine so my question is Do i need two reels of Bond wire? the machine came with 2 reels of stainless steel 420 s/s if i can use just the 420S/S will it make a strong bond or every spray there should be a bond wire. please assist.

Welcome Tasan. If you follow this link and look at page 4, the section "the electric wire arc process", line 4 says about the "intersecting point" of the TWO wires creating the arc So I would say you need the two wires to create the are for the metal to melt and allow spraying.

thanks for the info. however my question is, of the two wires, does one of the wire has to be a bond wire?or for every coat , i need to have a bond wire coating first them my desired coating.

Sorry Tasan I was intrigued by what it was you had so goggled it and recalled seeing (on tv ?) metal spraying, had heard of it but not seen. So found the artical and that was as much as I know. Hoping someone will add there knowledge/experience to your post.

Bond coat first, then change the wires out for top coat... I think... My buddy is production manager at a thermal spray company, I'll ask him
