Underbody Sealant Gun - Cleaning?

I've used a few of these in the past for patch repairs, spraying on polyurethane stonechip and seam sealant (NOT bitumen-based stuff), and after one can they were so gummed up they had to be thrown away.

Now I've got a whole underbody to do, and I'm wondering whether there's any way of cleaning them immediately after use. Can you just stick the pick-up pipe in a jar of thinners and blast it out?

yes providing the celly thinners will act as a solvent for the polyurethane and stone chip

Had mine for about 20 odd years, I just use gun wash to clean it

same as. i just poke the end into the slops tin and re-cycle it.

yeah blast a can full of gun wash through it , then take it apart /soak

i haven't used mine for about 10 years but if memory serves i just stuck the end in some old petrol in a parts washer i had and blasted it for a few seconds but maybe that only works with bitumen based schutz (if that's what it was back then). the gun was always fine though.

i used thinners when ever i done one also use to warm up the shultz before sprayin (bucket of warm water) dont leave it on top of a storage heater in an office and then shake it like i did tin poped and it went every where, gaffa came in following day wantin to know what the smell was and why things had black specks on lucky it was a tyre garage
