Unusual recovery truck

Roadworks on our road at the moment which is causing the usual chaos where drivers go past all the warning and diversion signs and have to turn round. They have put in some "towaway" areas and I wondered if this is the truck they're using?, I'm thinking the yellow machine picks up the cars without damage and loads them onto the flatbed, not seen anything like it before.

You’re right but I’ve never seen one, only on the tube

I thought it was a concept not in production. The video looked cool. It can get where the tow truck can’t.

i like the usa way of doing it due to it being fast less chance of confrontation by owners

I read somewhere [here perhaps?] that a chap with a VW EV found it completely dead on his driveway one morning and a 'normal' recovery couldn't pull/lift it onto their flatbed. They had to send to VW for a contraption that fitted the look of the thing shown above.

They probably have to move the car without damage even if we have had letters about no parking times and signs to that effect, I should imagine an automatic car in park could be damaged by just pulling it onto a flatbed?.

EVs have a mechanical lock pin similar to conventional automatics, so you need to disable it before you can move it.

you can get them off but outside of the car is harder

i was watching this and its brakes lock on, on the electric audi

Some EVs have default locked on brakes for safety.

ever had a chain snap on a bike ,,, i had one snap once at about 20mph on a 400 dream ,,, it was interesting and I was glad it wasnt any faster ,,, for once the day was saved by speed bumps ,,,

Only one. Just lost drive. Took a. Couple of secs to work it out!

Mrs79 has had a few. Couple on track (she used to race) which were fun apparently
