Use for a few offcuts

Had an hour to spare this morning, so thought I'd turn a few off cuts into something useful,
A bit of 8mm plate from something I dismantled,

and some 4 x 2 channel


100 x 100 box section, this wasn't long enough so joined 2 pieces together and flushed off the weld


Use a few Mig sparks to knit it together.

guessed what it is yet?


A splash of red oxide and Voila! a grinder pedestal. the quench pot is a bit of stainless tube with the end capped off.

Not exactly the most complicated thing to make but may give someone an idea for a simple project.

Not a fan of the stupid clear gaurds they attach to grinders?.......nor me .......but i always wear goggles or faceshield.....

I always wear a faceshield, those plastic shields are just a nuisance,
MK, the thing weighs 30kg without the grinder so it wont blow away, the idea of it is to be portable (in the shop) its actually really stable and no vibration at all.

I made one from a car wheel with the tyre still on and some tube for the upstand. It was very stable and still mobile to use on an extension in the yard.

Just about to do a similar thing, portable vice stand. Gonna use a truck brake drum as the base, 4" tube for the column, topped with a piece of 14mm plate for the vice mounting.
Then I can have a vice wherever I need it

Funny I was looking for a base the other day for the sand bag. Lorry drum sounds like a plan
