Using my home mig set again and cougar gas

A while back er maybe 2015 I bought what I was told was cougar 8 in a 10 litre bottle, I see cougar 8 isnt even a product they go cougar 5 or 10.
I'm using this on a single phase 200a inverter set, I since tried the set on my full size w argoshield light bottle and it welds well.
I cant remember if I used it back then or not (still shows over 2000psi), but just tried it now on the cougar 8 and its terrible, porous or cold welds on 3.5mm stock (I'm a moderate mig welder).
I get reasonable welds on my oxford mig set and w size argoshield light here at work on the same steel.
Did I get ripped or does gas go bad over time.
And the test date on the bottle obviously will be well out of date, do I need to purchase a whole new bottle or will this one trade in on a refill if its the same bottle the supplier sells.

cant say on the gas as never used it but if its for welding i dought if it would go off

do you have a pea shooter to cheak the gas out put ?

swaping if they dont do it any more most companys will swap out for what ever bottle you want as long as you pays the money for the new size bottle

co (carbon dioxide) og (oxygen- and no i dont know why they used og not just o) ar (argon) and no it wont be a problem exchanging it, assuming it isnt a rental bottle that has been 'lost' as afaik coogar is a brand name for gas only sold by airproducts on a rental basis.

nor will it have gone off. it could have been contaminated from the start but it never goes off.

There is also Coogar 20 out there, which is not so good to use on thin material.

I think your right mr mac.
I connected it up to my 300 amp oxford and gave it the beans, good weld, knocked it down to 80a or so on some 2.5mm and manky weld, black and brown marks around the outer of the weld - would this be oxy in the mix?
So if its not gone off then it might be the 20 they bunged in when I got the stuff, I remember the dude being quite dithery and not listening.
Doesnt look like he's still in business anyway.
Turns out the shop I got my first rig from does gas again, but its a drop off and call back job.
