Valve replacement

Had a problem with my Clarke AM 15/60 compressor for a while, it seems to be pushing as much air out of the intake and never reaches its full pressure. I have a feeling its the valves in the head? Can these valves be replaced because they just seem to be riveted on. I e-mailed Clarke for prices but they sent a price for a whole valve assembly which was over a £100. The breakdown photo of the compressor that they sent do not show any valves that can be replaced just the valve assembly. Is there a proper name for these valves?

The fault does point to the valves, valves seems to be the accepted term. Generally the valve plates or fingers themselves are not available as individual parts, so I'm not surprised that you can only obtain the valve assembly. I know some have fabricated their own, some successfully. You have nothing to loose by trying. The only other possibilty is that the compressor is the same as another make with cheaper parts prices.

Would some shim stock the right thickness work?

Something like that but it needs to be stainless steel.

Reed Valves As They Are Called - Used A Lot In Two Stroke Bike Engines From What I Recall From My Youth.

Maybe A Motorbike Factor Could Help.

Take The Assembly With You And Ask - No Harm In Trying.

i recently had the same problem on one of my compressors (fiac airforce).

i had to change the complete valve plate; it came as a service kit including gaskets, air filter and the little stopper that goes in the NRV.

i paid around £100 so it sounds around the going rate for a service kit.

i timed the compressor to fill from 0-120psi before i changed it and it took around 7m 30s, i timed it after the change and it took a little over 3 mins to fill (150l tank).

Sounds like the intake valve isn't sealing, have you looked at it?
You should clearly be able to see whats causing it to leak.

check the valves and if they are not broken clean them with some solvent it may cure it if they are clogged up
