Very old german lathe, help needed

Hi folks

I recently got my hands on a more than likely pre war lathe that I could do with some help with as it was in bits when I got it and I can't find any useable information on the internet.

So here we go, it's a OHADO/Oskar Hantzschel lathe. I think the model is a RV 20 G

I will post all the pictures I've taken up, I've put a lot of the lathe back together I just have some bits left to go on the outside.

Any help would be greatly appreciated I plan on re painting it once I get it put back together.

Is it a lathe? Loks more like a boring head sort of arrangement?

Is it not a capstan lathe for specific operations

It could be one of of two things pics of the top of the turret would help to give a definitive answer.

1)As mentioned it could have originally been a capstan lathe but now missing the 6 station turret and modded for a different use or it was designed to be the following in point 2

2) A facing lathe, designed purely and simply to face parts of various sizes for either 1st or 2nd ops on parts ( normally 2nd ops) Facing lathes though not that common were and are still about, so this could be it's design.

Take some pics of the top of the turret slide and close up of all that mechanism/ area if you can, and that should give the answer.

Hi guys.

I have no clue about lathes really, I used one about 5 years ago.

I will take some more pics of the turret when I head back out to the workshop in a bit.

I also have to figure out where the last few bits go, I had a lot of trial and error put all gears back together

I've seen a very similar thing made by a company called gestika, also german and also minus the capstan, but fitted with a lever operated slide at the headstock end. I couldn't figure out what it was for either!

It's a second op lathe, pretty common in the old days and still used in the right environment today. Britain, Smart and brown made them along with many other brands in the day.

I will say, I have no experience or knowledge of that particular lathe make, but lathes of that configuration are considered as above, second op lathes.
