Vice stand

I got a few off cuts from work

After a bit of welding, a couple of drilled holes and the tightening of a couple of nuts and bolts I ended up with this

Not bad for a short session in the afternoon sun

Where are the hooks for all the thingy's and stuff?
it is great the first time you use one of these, you can belt the sucker without everything on the table taking fright anf jumping onto the floor.

Are you going to fill the tube with sand or something? To give it a bit more weight. That'd be my idea, anyway

I like it. And you can put a foot on the base for more stability when ya need it.

what thickness plate did you use?

is that a round plate u cut to go under the vice?

The one thing i dont like about these vice stands is that they look unstable and in danger of falling over easily if hit the wrong way.
Are they?

when i make mine, the bottom plate is going to have a bolt hole in each corner to anchor bolt and resin it to the floor.

it doesnt need to be moveable for me, i cant remember the last time i thought "i wish i could have my vice here to do this"

my vice is bolted the bench now, so its in one place for me whether its on a bench or a stand.

Excuse my ignorance but what do you use those vice stands for?

Surely not to hold when not in use?

looks good job but will need bolting down for sure,ive an old record pipe vise on a tripod stand,I replaced the pipe vise with a "normal" vise its handy for site work as it folds down

Dont get me wrong its impressive work and il probably make one myself at some stage but even with hacksawing and filing would it still not be less than stable? Vices arent exactly light?

The bottom plate is 10mm thick, the upright is 3mm and the circle plate underneath the vice is also 3mm.

It will be getting 4 holes drilled in the bottom plate and bolted to the floor as soon as I make some room in the meantime I have a vice I can use.
