I have a Viessmann Vitodens 300 boiler fitted to my house in Stafford. It was fitted in summer 2003 and has been reliable for the most part. It's needed a couple of gas valves and a few years back it needed the control module - very spendy. I kept the faulty one, intending to hand it over to a friend of mine who is a bit of an electronics whizz, to see if he could find out what failed, fix it and thereby have a backup if the current one failed.
However actually getting at the circuit board has so far proved to be an impossibility. It has a plastic shroud on the back with lots of plastic clips and a couple of screws holding the cover in place. I can get three quarters of the perimeter of the cover loose and able to be withdrawn, but one corner stays stubbornly stuck and immovable. I don't want to apply brute force and ignorance, so was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the cover. I suspect there is some kind of jig or special tool involved. Either that, or a hidden screw.
