I've just bought a new Vizi 601 air fed mask and obviously have got something wrong with my setup !!
I'm running a Clarke Warrior 30, 8.7 cfm compressor, via a coalescing filter/regulator, to the in-built regulator on the Vizi belt. This then feeds the mask via it's own snap-on connector.
The belt has a whistle to warn you if the pressure drops below 0.9 (10psi), and they recommend 44psi at the mask for general usage.
There is nothing else connected to the compressor.
Upon switch on, the compressor kicks in, an the whistle blows its head off. There is air supplied to the mask, it feels about right, pressure wise, but there's ahell of a lot more coming out of the whistle !!
The gauge on the coalescing reg reads well over 50 psi, the regulator gauge on the compressor, 90 psi (ish)
If I'm wearing the mask (to provide a resistance for the air), then the whistling is continuous, and very loud. If I disconnect the airmask via the snap-on connector, the whistling still carries on. I can't shut it up !!
It has been suggested that the compressor doesn't have enough free-air capacity, but surely, if no air is being comsumed (ie when the mask is NOT connected), as long as the pressure is high enough, then the whistle should not sound !!
I have also eliminated the coalescing filter by by-passing it to see if there is too great a pressure drop there, but it doesn't change anything.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
