washer catch broke

came in from welding the car and went to do the washing only to find the catch broke. Too late to go and get a new door and am working sunday so out again with the welder. I could have made it a little neater but wanted to go chip shop and needed to get the washing done and there was no way im sitting there with my foot holding the door shut.

Needs must. I called round at my sons house a while ago,similar situation only he had a 5 ton ratchet strap right round the machine holding the door shut.

2 loads now washed and is working a treat. Just that when its running i cant open 2 of my kitchen draws.

I had the opposite problem - I couldn't open the door after a wash so I drilled a hole in the side and fastened a piece of string to the catch, passing it through the hole.



Then I realised there was a time delay on the latch and it wasn't meant to open for a couple of minutes after switching off

I bet that repair will still be there in 3 years time and you will now never get round to getting another catch.

We had a similar problem with the top oven on the cooker and had a piece of 3x2 leant against it for ages before I got a new spring for the catch.

Your not the only one. Years ago when my mum was on holiday and she left my 16 year old brother to fend for himself he too didnt no about the time delay on the switch and rammed a screwdriver into the catch to open it. Hope that makes you feel better lol.
