Before anyone kicks up I have a license to use it legally here in Ireland.
It’s basically two large propane cylinders empty obviously!
I removed the valves and filled them with water and left them sit for a week to clear any vapour inside,
My plan was to use one for oil storage and one as the heart the burner itself the storage tank was easy made I just split the top off along the rim weld with the plasma and put in a 3mm plate with a 6” hole to sit a ordinary kitchen mesh thing for the flour that I can’t quite spell!!This was for when I’m filling the tank if there’s any large bits of crud it would filter it out.
There’s a frame made to wall mount it above the main burner and a normal ball valve at the bottom to open the main flow.
The main burner tank was split in half and two doors cut.
I put a disk with a 7” hole to allow the 7” pipe through it the air is sucked up through this pipe to help draw in air with a lot of 12mm holes added to further help increase the draw.
The burning pot itself has a 12mm base and a hole in the Center to allow air from my blower in to the pot to further increase air flow.
The second ball valve beside the burner is my oil flow control it basically controls the very small flow of oil Into the burning pot.
It takes a lot of getting used to how much oil to send in but I’ve learned too much oil increases smoke and too little has very little heat output.
A just right oil flow will have the burning pot glowing a dull red and the top of the tank glowing ever so slightly.
I have a ss flue out to the very top of my workshop exiting just below the gutter then rising up a good 2m to give a good draw of air.
When it’s running there is not a puff of smoke and it can heat my 10m x10m x 6m high shed up to 18c when it could be -5 outside!!
It was a lot of work but definitely worth it.
