Water trap req pls

I’ve a set up for blasting dry media which really works a treat for a period.. despite draining the compressor every time it’s used and having two water traps fitted in line, one on the Comp outlet and one at the point of entry at the cabinet the air is only dry for a short while even in this dry period, then you can see moisture exiting at the gun..

I drain these filters often.. the one at the comp came with it and looks decent to be fair, purchased new 2 years ago.. the one at the cabinet was an e bay job.. I think this could be where the issue is..

I ask, can you advise on a quality water trap to purchase please to replace this cheapie..
if you also believe that is the issue?

Ps the interior of the cabinet is heated even at this time of year to keep the media as dry as possible..

the issue is using a large volume of air .when it heats up the water turns humid and bypasses the water filters then turns back to water clogging the gun. I use a secondary tank on the end of the air hose near the blasting pot it cools and collects all the water then goes through the water separator on the pot I never have a problem with water

Like the sound of this, any chance of a pic of your pot set up pls...

You either need to do as above and setup something to let the air cool. Copper piping or a secondary tank. The trap the water.

Or use a refrigerant dryer

I’ve built this today, I went to scrap yard and got this tank.. I’m not really sure exactly what I need to achieve with it, but I’ve leak tested it and it’s tight! I have not filled it with compressed air yet! Reason being I thought I’d ask before poss blowing myself off this planet.. do I need fit a pressure relief valve of some kind? I’m trying to get a decent water trap for it ( might have a valve built in I guess) I’m just struggling to find a suitable one..

So at present I will have the air going in this tank at the lower connector and hopefully water free air going out at the top connector to my gun, as I say with a water trap fitted.. I’ve put a bracket to mount it too..

Please advise any changes I need to make and I will do them as I say I’m not knowledgeable on comp air really..

if that's a secondary tank it wont need a safety valve fitted as you already have one on your compressor tank . a drain off tap would be preferable though .you have 2 plugs fitted .fine to feed it but the top end needs a socket outlet or stuff to plug in to . are u fitting a water separator on the output then a socket outlet ?/it also helps if you use10 or 15mm bore pipe between tanks so the cfm isn't restricted and helps with cooling .fitting the secondary tank on the end of the line makes a big difference and stops the water getting in to your blasting gear and tools

Oh good thanks mate... yes I’ve a water drain off on the bottom already I just forgot to take a pic of it.. I’ve 15 mm high rubber pressure air line at present .. I will go copper pipe set up for indoors later.. from the outlet of the secondary tank I’ve made up a short hose and connector which goes to the gun... so just need a water trap now and I should be good... will be interesting to see how much water drains out of this second tank?eg what’s prev been coming down the air line...

you will be well happy using it. I can run the pot with 3mm jet at 90psi and over 20 cfm and after half an hour a bit of water enters the last separator but causes no problem. let us know how you get on with it

Tried it out mte and it’s superb I ran the gun for an hour with no signs of water at all...
