Waxoyle in a airgun can

I have an airgun for applying stone chip which comes in the round cans with an male thread on the top. Like the ones used in the tutorial on this site.

I would like to use the same gun to apply standard waxoyle and the heavier underseal waxoyle. While I can find waxoyle in their own female thread container, I can't find either of these in the correct type of container to use with my gun. Does anyone know is they are available in that type of container?

If not I guess I need to buy stone chip and tip it out so I can use the container!!

I used a brush for lots of my undersealing on the LR, so I ended up having lots of spare tins...thinned it down a little and re-filled one of the old cans and used that.

Dont think you can get a specific can for this application, but id just use the others and re-fill...

Agreed, we defo had the Waxoyle in the same underseal guns but i can't fo the life of me remember whether it was a male or felame thread,
Yeah i'd clean and refill one you've got, we had a hose on the end to get in sills and apprentises trousers......

Hello, is it possible to use a parrafin gun you can get them cheap from Machine Mart.

I just use an old chipcoat can and gun. I cut the nozzle down so it's very short, it doesn't clog as easy.

I also have a homemade setup, it sprays down a 4 metre long 5mm nylon pipe with a spray nozzle at the end, the spray is a light wet coat like paint out of a gun. The trick to getting a spray seems to be to add air to the stream of waxoyl, I added emulsion holes to the pick-up tube, just like an emulsion tube in a carb.

I had the same dilema.

Had an old shutz can I used for a while but it eventually burst and sprayed waxoyl all down my leg.

Found another can that does the trick. It's Dinitrol available here:-

Almost exactly the same stuff as Waxoyl, so you can use the contents of this can first before topping up from gallon containers.

Bursting can be a bit of trouble for waxoyl - it likes a fine spray so can build up a bit of pressure. I invested in one of these for injecting wax into chassis members - it's designed for the job and has a nice nozzle on the end of the tube.

I'm sure waxoyl underseal uses the shultz cans (same as anti-stonechip). Halfords have them.

On a side note I don't plan to use waxoyl in the future for chassis members as it doesn't get into the seams unless you heat them up with a heat gun first.

Since starting the thread I ave found that while waxoyl and waxoyl underseal are available in the correct type of can no one round me seems to stock them in that type of can.

My local paint factor had 3M cavity wax in the shultz cans so I bought one and will refill from my existing waxoyl tin when it is finished.

Malcolm, what are you going to put in your chassis members instead? I know someone who used clean engine oil. I had wondered about WD40 or penetrating oil.

I don't know if it was because I was using the air gun rather that waxoyl's pump up sprayer but the 3M wax seemed to spray much better. No heating first either.

i keep a large pot of boiling water.stand waxoyl can in that,makes it more liquid.
which in turn get into seems better.

Warm it up and add a bit of white spirit does the trick for me. Comes out of the gun in a fine mist and coats everything.

oh dont be tempted to heat it with a torch or anything that has a flame.
a mate did,it exploded. and he had scabs on his arms and face for some time.
boiling wax/oil is not funny.
but i did laugh at him.
