I'm putting back into commission a small but very solid woodturning lathe. Just fired up the little Brook 'Cub' motor for the first time since the 1950s. Runs beautifully.
It lacks a bowl turning faceplate, and the shaft end I can use is 14tpi x 0.600" (39/64 more or less). Any ideas what thread this might be? I guess it's too much to expect to buy one off the shelf!
It had a grinding wheel on the end so I have a couple of good nuts (ooh matron....) and the thread on the shaft is sound. I could put a small keyway in it and bolt on a faceplate I suppose- but I'd have to lose the nut in a counter bore so I'd need to start with a thick piece, maybe aluminium, not easy to find here in the middle of nowhere.
