Welding bench time..

Finally got back into making a welding and fabricating bench, I started this a while ago out of but from people scrap and cast offs, The idea was i can weld as i go to learn, It is going to be done to house tools vices and for now side under a work surface in the garage.

Nice job,Taking shape nicely, The open ends of the horizontal box section look ideal for taking extra brackets,supports,vices etc.

The big box section was just a spare bit and i wanted something i can maybe adapt later to have a few hole in for vices or maybe a bolt on press, I have a home made folder i want to make fit so i can use it when i need it and then store it below, I was trying to mock up some wheels today that pop down to move it about as by the time i have finished it will be really heavy but with some rubber under the feet it should stay put when im sawing or hammering.
am pretty new to welding so i weld a bit crappy but thats what a grinder and flap wheel are for i think

Practice can make perfect but as long as you are happy and they hold that is OK in my book. I believe you have to put hours in the skill to get the perfect welds but if you are a DIYer like me you just grab the welder when you need it. Sometimes just for a tiny welding job. Your bench looks good anyway.

The welds are strong but they look a bit untidy lol, so a grind and paint hides things fine.

What you need is some good quality castors, many supermarkets sell them 4 for £1.

I am on the look out for a Thick slab of steel plate 1/2" would be fine as i want to have a shaped end internal and external curve for bashing body work on and on the back a folder, The castors are indeed £1 for 4 specials as they have a single bolt holes and i want them to fold down when i heed to push the bench round, I had a few shopping trollies dumped at a house i rent out by the trampy woman who was there (now gone), And at least 6 stainless steel beer kegs which i know you cannot use but i gave the brewery 14 days to collect them in writing and now they are still here 6 months later. Great for catching rain water....

After another tidy to get the bench out to start work on i ended up with a pile of things i need to sell/swap or donate, One day i will be tidy and free of all my left overs.
