Welding bench

OK so for many years the important function of my garage has been storage - as I have finished of projects the need for storage has been reduced

I had some one on one welding tution with Malcolm a while back and one thing I took away with me was a desire to build my own welding bench

So my garage (archive picture)

Now I needed a work bench and my own work provided the basics FOC amazing what companies throw away

Obviously I hadn't really much need for another racking unit but I reckoned split into two I'd end up with a 12 ft long work bench

I planned to have a woodworking bench with vice etc mounted and then the second half as a welding area

So I purchased a 3 ft by 6 ft sheet of 5mm thick steel

Bench is 6 ft by 2 ft

I wanted a slight overlap to allow clamping of items to the work surface

I also wanted to put a front lip and back lip to stop the surface moving as well as stop stuff disappearing of the back of the surface

I think I got it fairly straight and level

Backstop

I know the back is not quite vertical but I need to run some cables behind the welding bench

I don't any more - the parts stored have been fitted

fair enough. I seem to be going the other way. I end up with more parts than I need, and have no idea how I came to own them lol

It's a slippery slope - At one stage I totted up what I'd spent on parts for the green barge and when I realised I'd spent £5000 on parts it was time to fit them so for the last 3 months thats what I;ve been doing

I have two other project cars to finish yet

- Plastic bag is temporary till I find a home for the latex gloves :-)

- I could do with space for two more cars but I've ran out of room to extend :-(
