Welding Blanket

Goodmorning Guys!

I have an issue recently when I did some welding .
The ceramic floor had some damage from the spatters.
Could you suggest any measure to avoid that in the future.
The welding Blanket could protect the floor?

lawnmowerboy is it the same like the Welding Blanket or it is just for one use?
I am doing regularly welding in areas where tile floors are!

Household fire blankets are no use, a couple of sparks and they are holed.

Proper welding blankets are much much thicker.
Last time I did a job like that we covered the entire floor in ply. And try and go with tig, minimises sparks.

I have the same thought Hitch even I know far more expensive than the fire Blanket.
Plywood is better for the job or welding blanket from your experience?

Plywood, with overlapped joints really, use a welding blanket in local areas.

Damping the ply also helps kill the sparks when they land; stops them rolling off under something.

I was thinking about the Blanket as it is more easy to move around.

depends how big an area you want to protect, I use a cheapo welding apron from Aldi?

It is approx. the size of the Blanket.
The issue is for me if actually the welding blanket is able to keep the spatters away from the tile floor or with the first or second weld, we will have holes on it and then obviously everything will be pass to the tile floor?
Ply is good solution but not really handy if you move around!
I have a bench with a vise so I want to cover the area around it!

No idea about the ebay ones, with the thin chip pan type though, soon as a bit of spatter lands on it they go into holes. Bought one to try, barely lasted one job

The ply isnt that convenient I know, but feel you need to think about pricing it in.
Depends what the jobs are, can you not do it without making sparks etc?
I always try and get away with bolting when possible if hot works is slightly risky for any reason.
