I've just seen the crimping cables post and it has reminded me that I need to sort out a 20 yr old bodge on my trusty SIF stick turbo welder .
20 years ago I changed the supplied electrode holder and its cable to a standard industrial orange cable & black & yellow holder , but I never got around to getting the terminal lug that fits on the welder done as I made a figure 9 of the welding cable ,soldered it with a 2 lb copper iron , insulated it with tape then put it over the terminal and tightened up the insulated hand nut .
Over the years it has frayed a bit & I'd like to do a better job by using a proper brass terminal lug , I tried for several weeks to locate the correct size that will fit the 10 mm brass post ( it has a bakelite shroud around it , so space is restricted ) yet have a receptor big enough fit the cable .
Has anybody had this problem and found the correct lug to solve it or did you all use the supplied cable and then use some sort of adaptor you either made or purchased?
