Hi,
I am pretty new to MIG welding.
I am doing some restoration to my car and now I am in the process of repairing some holes in the rocker panels.
I have prepared a piece of sheet metal that will be welded in place but I have some trouble with it: in some places I have to weld from below the car pointing up and the molten wire tends to fall down.
Do I need to adjust the wire speed or the amps? Or there is another solution for that?
Could someone give me some advice?
Also, I have some trouble with the wire feeder because if the hose from the welding torch is not straight, the wire tends to go slower in an uncontrollable manner. The rollers are clean, no dirt or lubricant on them.
I have tried several settings for the speed control button and the screw that is used to adjust the pressure of the roller on the wire but it is not working. Should I change some parts to make it work better?
The welder is a Telmig 170. They say it is italian made, but I did not find many reviews on the internet about them.
