Welding cast mild steel to mild steel

Hi, i am new to the forum and i need some advice, i need to weld some cast mild steel hinges to a mild steel box section frame, i have a mig welder to do it with but have had mixed advice on if i can or not, the hinges and steel are new, i have mild steel welding wire but do i need dissimilar wire or something else, welding cast is new to me so any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

No just weld it as you would any other steel, I've done loads on gates etc with no issue, just vee the edges well to get good penetration, maybe do more than one pass if you've only a small welder?

Would it be better with Tig or Mig.?

i have used mig with no issue, cant comment about tig as ive never used that process to do it.

both normal and gasless mig wires work though. I used cast hinges on a gate for my mothers new house, no pinging sounds as it cooled, no cracks, exactly the same as normal ms

Not sure but...aren't those hinges forged and not cast at all?

I have welded "cast" looking mild hinges to mild steel with a mig no bother
