Thanks for the replys, i broke the jaw trying to bend some pipe with just a bit too much brute force and ignorance.I only have a small stick welder and a mig so it looks like trying the stick.It doesn't matter if it doesn't work,i have another that i am using but it saves tripping over it every time i want to do something.Would it be best if i V the joints to be welded with the angle grinder first and what size cast rods should i use.
i remember a record advert years ago boasting their vices were made from cast steel & not 'steel castings'. record engineers vices are guaranteed unbreakable.I broke the jaw on my big 6" inch record vice last year , i was disgusted to be honest as it wasn't under any big pressure , i am going to contact record and see if i can buy a replacement. I was told by a knowledgeable chap in a tool shop i should have bought a cast steel vice and not cast iron.
