Must be really struggling if they're doing this... or loaded enough and realised the extent of their greed https://news.sky.com/story/ebay-selling-fees-are-scrapped-to-boost-to-reselling-13225638
I always pay through PayPal and it gives me option to use balance if any and remainder from card through PayPal if not enough to cover, not had any issues with it myselfI’m currently not very happy with eBay, given the fact I can no longer pay for anything via Paypal, despite having the money in the account, unless I give them my debit card.
Apparently it’s to stop new accounts not paying. I’ve had the account 20 years, couple of k feedback and never “not paid”.
This is the second time they’ve brought it in before abandoning it. So I wouldn’t hold your breath on sellers fees tbh.
Buyers are going to pay the fee instead.Must be really struggling if they're doing this... or loaded enough and realised the extent of their greed https://news.sky.com/story/ebay-selling-fees-are-scrapped-to-boost-to-reselling-13225638
If you have a valid debit or credit card linked to your paypal you will be fine.I always pay through PayPal and it gives me option to use balance if any and remainder from card through PayPal if not enough to cover, not had any issues with it myself
Well the fee for buyers is usually added into the sellers cost anyway when they list, it'll probably be something like an auction house with say 3-5% fee for buyer.Buyers are going to pay the fee instead.
And it's only private sellers. You become a business if they decide you are selling a lot of stuff. Even if it's all second hand.
"More steps to address false private sellers
At eBay, we are dedicated to ensuring a fair and equitable marketplace for all business sellers. To achieve this, we monitor trading activities, and we’ll continuously help business sellers using a private account to transition to a business account, or restrict selling activity as necessary. In addition, we’ve reduced the number of free listings available to private sellers."
Use a different site then and move on.If you have a valid debit or credit card linked to your paypal you will be fine.
However, if you only have paypal as a funding source (irrespective of if you have sufficient funds in it or not) then it will no longer allow you to make offers or bid on auctions unless the seller explicitly disables an option on the listing which is enabled by default.
It is very annoying as you have no way of knowing until you actually go to bid or pay for an item.
They brought it in previously, everybody kicked off so they rolled it back. Then recently they have brought it back in again.
A casualty of the ebay/paypal divorce.
If you want to use eBay now you really have to set up a seperate dedicated bank account (it would be foolish to link it to your main one!), which makes having paypal pretty irrelevant, which I suspect is partly the intention.
Use a different site then and move on.
I use ebay all the time with great success in selling a mix of items. I have no issue linking my bank account etc and as I describe my items very clearly and this far after 15+ years of selling I have very few problems. If someone complians about an item at say £40 or less I just refund it and move on. Not worth the agro. Only happened 2 or 3 times over maybe a couple hundred sales including items of higher value.
Generally it's a great selling platform for me and I have no complaints.
Unless they alter the fee, advertise it for a £50 flat fee.No selling fees: Hurray!
Not for motorcycles: Boo!
Its no where near that to be switched to a business seller.Well the fee for buyers is usually added into the sellers cost anyway when they list, it'll probably be something like an auction house with say 3-5% fee for buyer.
You're not going to be selling enough stuff to be a business anyway average person probably makes under £1k/yr on ebay
