What are the best airline couplings to use

Im doing a complete revamp of the air supply in my workshop installing 1/2 inch hose all round with various drop points and a long lead by the door for tyres etc

there seems to be a lot of different connectors about and i vaguely recall reading that some of them can reduce the flow in the pipe quite a lot

also im just using ordinary 3/8 connectors at the moment but they never seem to really seal perfect?

any ideas/opinions

Do you mean quick release connectors. In that case pcl connectors. As for joining pipe match the pipe.

use euroconectors for airtools and a pcl for smaller stuff heres mine. i also use claw couplings

Why the use of 2 different connectors??

Just the way your setup has evolved or??

i use the claw couplings for shotblasting and the adaptor to eurocouplings from a 90cfm compressor with 3/4 and half inch hoses and can use both type of couplings on the end of the y adaptor pcl small bore for sprayguns tire inflators and small air die grinders with smaller bore hose on the end of line

Have you considered using either of the following airline quick release couplings:

Parker Twist Lock airline fittings

Or

Atlas Copco ergoquip full flow quick release airline couplings

I have used both in 1/4 and 1/2 BSP and they are far superior to the PCL fittings

The Parker ones look like the old Schrader couplings we used to use in Industrial situations.
I suspect that Parker have bought out Schrader?

I find 1/4 pcl's are very restrictive even though when you look at the supposed air flow rates, they are shown as not too bad, according to the charts they should easily run a 3/4 gun but in reality wont. I use 100 series for them.

100 series are cheap... The will seal as well as any other quick-release airline (in other words, they will probably leak a bit). Yes they will run a 3/4 gun.

100 series are cheap.

I dont think they are cheap-------- at £30 a female and £5 a male (e bay prices) I think the retail is about 1/3 more ish.
I find the 100 seal better ( read more reliably) than the 1/4 and will run my 3/4 gun no problem, but what I also do is drill out the hose tail 1/4 fitting that connects to the gun, to the safe max, and always have a short fly/whip hose from the gun to the QR connector to save vibration to the Q/R's them selves.
