What clothes do you use for welding? Snickers promotion on

I've been looking for a nice pair of work clothes for a while now and just wondering what others use for welding?

I only weld currently with my Dickies flame retardent overalls. I also have nice Dickies steel toe cap boots which wouldn't go on fire easily.

What do you normally use for welding?

Does anyone know if you can get snickers work trousers (the ones with pockets and that are made of out tough material) that you can weld with? Would be handy to avoid having to put on the overalls for small jobs.

Was going to link to the snickers promotion but I can't find it here at the moment and am at work so can't be doing too much browsing.

Personally I have an anti static, flame retardant jump suit from work.. not that they know ive borrowed it though Rather hot in this weather though.

You wouldn't want to be burning lots of little round spatter holes in your new expensive snickers gear, for quick little jobs I usually head for my Aldi wardrobe, and just use their leather apron,I always seemed to be burning my clothing(usually from angle grinding) until I discovered the wonder of leather.

I got a flamefast overall from DirectBoot in North London, however I keep sticking myself with hot end of the TIG welding rods (no burns yet) so I may start wearing a cheap leather apron I use when firing up the furnace.

I get supplied with Proban overalls at work but I hate wearing them, and they're bl@@dy hot in this weather.
I normally wear Primark Cargo pants, £8 a pair with a webbing belt, every size under the sun, big pockets, heavy duty cotton canvas type of fabric. Not flame retardent but they stand up well and a leather apron and kneepads make them almost bulletproof.
I also have a Proban jacket for the top half.

In the sumer I wear a Nato flight suit, god knows how much the MOD paid for it, claims to be fire retardent, in the witer german tank suit, fantastic things.
Leather apron is a great thing especially with suspenders, well funky.
Mine cost £5.00 from aldi and came with a pair of welding gauntlets, bargain.

I do a lot of welding sat down so an apron is essential.

I am wary of pockets without flaps on them because hotrocks seem to have a mind of their own ad like to get into corners.

Treat overalls as a consumable item because they are.

Note, dont be tempted to do a small welding job in Birkenstocks. it was probably funny to watch though.

I did see a hilarious post on fleabay, I was after a tank suit. Then I saw the photo/
There was this fat hairy geezer, with raybans on, overall open to the crutch, and a dodgy display of body hair with his hands on his hips. A lookylikey for Charles Bronson, the English version.
I chose to buy elsewhere.

But check these suits put, they must cost a frotune to buy originally, and tank suits have a shoulder holster, I even had one with a ankle holster as well. I do like to be tooled up at work.

Heh, I must admit with an army surplus store at the end of the road im not short on bits..

Never looked at their flight suits and such tho, mebbes I should ask him if the hazchem suit is any good for paint spraying

Bought mine in a market in sight of the Branden gate in West Berlin.

A friend of mine in the Navy said that all their uniforms have a fire retardent chemical added, i think it works the same way as a waterproofing agent you can buy from millets, you add the chemical to the wash with the overalls etc and when they come out there fire proteted. Not sure where to get though, best ask a fireman.
