What does "Eurofittings" Mean ? - Grit Blasting Compressor Setup

Hi Folks,

Apologies for my ignorance, but can someone explain or point me towards some eurofittings for a compressor / blasting pot setup?

I searched the "airlines-pneumatics.com" website & the auction site but nothing comes back.

Im trying to connect my compressor to an ebay blasting pot as direct as possible to avoid any airflow restrictions. So far i decided to use a short 0.5m to 1m of 1/2" air hose direct from the compressor tank to the pot inlet without the regulator / water trap. Is this ok? is there a better way?

Another thing, I removed the blanking plug from the end of the tank on my clarke 3hp compressor and the plug measures 1 1/4 diameter! I cant find anything to reduce this to 1/2", biggest is 1". Have I measured something wrong?

Google Euro air connectors. they are similar to PCL connectors, like on garage air lines. You need to include the regulator and water trap for safety reasons. That blanking plug is for inspecting the inside of the receiver for rust not to draw off air. air fittings are usually BSP or BSPT either straight thread or taper and are measured by the bore not diameter.

I'd be inclined to use PCL fittings, much more universal. 1/2 inch BSP would be the way to go for a regulator..

You MUST have a regulator, the pot is rated at a lower pressure than the cut-off pressure of the compressor, unless you wind the latter down to about 90 psi.

The Airlines site has a table which gives the dimensions of the various threads.

heres the euro fittings and pcl the diffrence is enormous for long hoses and a lot of cfm requirement .use a half inch water seperator and reg there rated for 90cfm

Thanks, I see it now. They look a bit like the standard PCL but they have a bigger bore & higher flow rating.

I adjusted the compressor to cut of at around 120psi. Ill wind it down to 90psi. I think the pot is rated at 125psi Max.

I know its common sense to have the regulator, but wont that (and PCL) restrict the airflow to the Pot? Just found a good post by brightspark about this:

Is it a problem to connect the regulator directly from the tank /blanking plugs?

I seen quite a few people doing it and it seems the practical way with my compressor (simmilar to PE16C50). The regulator on these connects on the bottom and the average regulator connects from the side's + the switch is right in the way
