Need advice for size generator to run the sgs 90l air compressor belt drive (13 amp- 3hp). Runs fine for while off extension lead but chugs and cuts out when using da sander guessing motor not getting enough power. so as I’m mobile a generator is only option it says air compressor is 2.2kw so I guess it’s not a 3hp engine any advice much appreciated

2.2kW is equivalent to 2.9hp. If it's not getting enough power, where is it being lost? Is the extension long and does it get warm, or do the lights nearby dim when the compressor is running, or does the supply voltage drop considerably? Do any plugs and sockets in the cable run become unusually warm? The cutting out during running suggests there may be other issues, like possible seizing, or the motor windings shorting out.
A 5kVA genny, preferably pure sine wave, should probably be able to handle the startup inrush current, though you might wish to go to a higher rating, just to be sure. .

No nothing gets warm except heat from where motor is like very hot. just with it constant running from using sander this is only time it does it. when I’m spraying it’s fine as it has breaks in between extension lead is 15m 1.25mm if this helps. Cheers buddy will have a look at them size generators

Run my 3hp 2.2kw off an extension lead plenty of times no problem , sounds like you have a fault somewhere to me, doesn't matter what air tool you use if it can't keep up, I'd go electric as said earlier with the da
I have a Sealley. Usually avoid Sealley but it was all available at the time. As said Tiz a beast. Bout the same size as an angle grinder.

not that strait forward with pulleys and unloader valve and governorDump the electric motor on the compressor and replace with a Honda..... sorted.
