What is it worth

My old compressor seems to have given up, tbh it has been a banging and knocking for a long while
Anyways looking on eBay I came across this 4 year old SIP Airmate TN3/150 and its close to me
Just wondering what it is worth the guy is looking for 250 for it, or would I be better getting a new Wolf Dakota for around the same money but only with a 90l tank

go for new, used they are not worth it at that price

you just never know how hard they have used them or if they havent bothered using it

if you had said around 100.00 id have said try it but with above warning that something may need parts for a repair to it

£250 is towards the top end of prices for a used compressor. Air tank size doesn't matter all that much, and it looks like the Woolf has a similar pump and motor. On the other hand it looks in good condition. I guess it is up to you, could bid him £200 and see if he bites.

is like that one but it was new in the 9o's

Might get the small one and link my old tank to it that will give me a bit over 200l of air

id rather have a new one with smaller tank .. you can couple it with extra tank if you require more storage capacity and shut it off and fill faster with a smaller one .I have a twin motor and pump model with large tank and its a waste filling for a small job or I use my smaller comp and tank for tires and low volume use

I might go that way, don't think my old one as ben switched off in the last 6 years or so

If your tank and motor are good then I think I would look at a new pump.

Some of the bigger Machine Marts have a returns section - often the stuff has never even had a plug fitted. They usually have a few compressors there. I bought my 14cfm one for about £150 less than retail - you only get a 3 or 6 month guarantee I think but mine had never been used. just a scratch on it!

Older compressors are much more reliable than chinese new built compressors... For starters you get a copper wound motor and not an aluminium wound motor, copper motors will last for years... The wolf ones do loom appealing at first however i would buy a europeean made fini, abac or clarke compressor and would not waste money on new generic brand compressors! If its for diy purpose then by all means-go new, if profesiional use then that older, used compressor its a lot more appealing. As others say, offer him what you're prepared to pay and dont loose it for the sake of 50-75 quid!
