What is this tool?

Was sorting through some old tools and came across this:

Its about a foot long and 1/2" diameter shaft that is hollow tube, looks and feels like it is filled with lead.

Any ideas what it is, or is it just a part of something else?

Is it a hole or a small detent drilled partially?

I would go along with Slim, a priest, the hole to put a loop on to hang it on your belt.

I'm going for a burnishing too too. its for creating the burr on a cabinet scraper used in woodwork. if it is its a piece of round steel bar that is smooth and hard.

It is a hole drilled right through. So perhaps is a priest, though the end with the hole is still bright steel, the area to the handle is black.

On my Myford ML7, may be co-incidence, but it is easy to pop thing of the more taper in the tailstock with it:

would be my guess, assuming hard its perfect for cabinet scrapers
