What kind of paint should I use for a food display.

Hi every body.
This is the first time I post in this forum. I am from Chihuahua, Mexico. I have a question, a friend of mine needs to paint a fridge to display meats. The original paint was too bad and he removed all. Now he asked me to paint it, but I do not want to mess with peoples health. I know that some paints may contain stuff that is not safe for this purpose.
So my question is: Which kind of paint is safe to use?

i would imagine some sort of acrylic or cellulose maybe you could alwys ask at the paint shop to be sure
